COMES FOLDED, NOT ROLLED !
For the historic part, Guillaume de Machaut (1300-1377) is probably the most famous composer of the XIVth century and the Ars Nova. He wrote more than 400 artworks (ballades, motets, lais, complaintes, rondeaux, "Messe de Notre-Dame"...).
"Je Vivroie Liement" is one of his most popular monophonics virelais (form of poem).
About the music and the arrangement itself, we went for a hip hop / electronic / trap with glitchy drums and ambient textures melted with some more organic arrangements and big choirs, giving that kind of unique "space cowboy" feeling, if we can call it that way...
Dare we say it's one of our favorite ? If not THE favorite...
lyrics
"Je vivroie liement,
Douce creature,
Se vous saviés vraiement
Qu'en vous fust parfaitement
Ma cure.
Dame de meinteing joli,
Plaisant, nette et pure,
Souvent me fait dire: "aymi"
Li maus que j'endure.
Pour vous servir liement.
Et soiés seüre
Que je ne puis nullement
Vivre einsi, se longuement
-- (VERSE)
Car vous m'estes sans mercy
Et sans pité dure,
Et s'avés le cuer de mi
Mis en tel ardure
--
Je vivroie liement,
Douce creature,
Se vous saviés vraiement
Qu'en vous fust parfaitement
Ma cure.

Et sans pité dure,

i like the Rick Beato videos and he had shown the track electric sunrise in his video "How To Count Odd Meters". I was very impressed from this song and searched for the whole album and found it at bandcamp ;-) hpaydt

I like the fact that this guy is not in “omg I love djent so much I’ll only let *that* express in my songs” mode. With his friends he crafts thoughtful and diverse songs which can be either playful or touching. Alice M.

What a creative and unique EP from David! I love the intricacy and level of detail in the soundscape so much. There's always something for my ear to catch each time I visit this release. This is one of his more underrated releases, in my opinion. Great job, David! :D Erkadur

Cool compositions and great production – Who Bit the Moon is full of prog-rock moments that uplift and quickly capture attention. Neat changes in tempo add interest, and plentiful guitar hooks deliver moments to savour. Michael Reilly
